----------Team New Hampshire's Letterboxing Tales----------

Team New Hampshire is a team of 5. First there is my beautiful partner in crime, Sarah. Next are her 2 sons, Billy and Elijah. Then there is our son, Levi. And finally there is me, David. We live in the most wondefullest state in the country, New Hampshire. The "Live Free or Die" state. We started letterboxing in August of 2005 and we love every minute of it.

Rockin and Rollin in the Granite State - Tamworth

Tamwoth, New Hampshire
Population : 2,540 (July 2004)

Tucked perfectly between the White Mountians and the Lakes Region, Tamworth is both beautiful and quiet. Once home to such people as President Groover Cleveland and Dr. Earle Remick. Visited by poets and painter and miners of ore.In the late 1700's, an ore deposit was discovered on the Bear Camp River. The Ore was mined and nail making became the industry that ultimately formed Tamworth in 1766. Shortly thereafter, in 1833, the Tamworth Hotel was built. It housed mainly those who traveled the Concord, Mass to Conway, NH stageline, now known as Concord Trailways based in Concord, NH. The Tamworth Inn, as it is known as now, has 3 floors holding 28 rooms and 4 bathrooms. The Tamworth Inn also houses a restuarant if your hungry. In 1928, President Groover Cleveland purchased a home at a time when tourism became the towns primary industry after running out of ore years before. Now visitors can come to the area, stay over night or even 2, hike the many mountain trails that are within 20 miles, and even ski. Cross-country or downhill. Also in town is "The Oldest Professional Summer Theatre" in the country. Opening in 1931, under the direction of Francis Cleveland, son of President Cleveland, Barnstormers would open on Tuesdays and Rap up on Saturdays just as it still does to this day. Barnstormer remand under the direction of Francis Cleveland until his passing in 1995. Just up the road from the center of town, you will find Ordination Rock. It is at this location in 1792, where Rev. Samual Hidden was ordained atop a large rock and founded his church there. Across the street, you can find his burial plot, located under a tomb like table balanced on 6 granite legs. Finally, there is the Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm which is open year round at no cost to you. Inside you will discover a working farm museum that explores the richness and diversity on country New England life. The Remicks spent about 200 years in Tamworth and help give us a picture as to how life was lived on this historic landscape.
