----------Team New Hampshire's Letterboxing Tales----------

Team New Hampshire is a team of 5. First there is my beautiful partner in crime, Sarah. Next are her 2 sons, Billy and Elijah. Then there is our son, Levi. And finally there is me, David. We live in the most wondefullest state in the country, New Hampshire. The "Live Free or Die" state. We started letterboxing in August of 2005 and we love every minute of it.

The Mills at Salmon Falls Gather

It was a long cold and snowy night. I'm talking about Friday night of course. The night before, when about 120 letterboxers were to come out for New Hampshire's first gathering. But first thing first. I need to shovel a little bit.

I woke up at around 6:30 and started to get the boys ready. I started to cook Salmon Pea Wiggle for the gather, and get together all the stuff we would need to bring to the gather. I put my shoes on and headed outside to..........a.....foot......of......snow. Now this wasn't easy to shovel. The area I had shoveled had been covered again by drifting snow, which had been weighted down by some ice and rain. So the walk way was clear. Now I had to get the car out of the drive-way. Easier said than done. My road who haddened been plowed yet. After about 30 minutes of fighting to get my car out and up the road, we were off to Rollinsford, NH to The Mills at Salmon Falls Gather.

The drive out was touch and go the whole way. Slippery spots everywhere. Getting stuck behind 2 snowplows, traveling 25 MPH. Slowly, we made it to the Mills. When we got there, not many had shown up yet. There were only a few so far, but like everyone says, "If you host it, they will come!" Some people had problems finding the Mills, so I went out and helped post signs.

When I had come back to the Mills, some other letterboxers had shown up. Lock Wench, who came in Friday, was already there. I sat down with her and started in on some of the boxes that were hanging around to be found. Soon, other letterboxers would show up. Maine Kokopellian came, and Warrior Women came, Lundy and Vickster, Wildcats, Uneskia, and many others came. I finally got to meet MK after some trying over the past year or so. It seemed as though everyone was hanging out at the one table. What a awesome time we all had talking it up.

Now as for the food. It all looked good. Hot or cold, it didn't matter. There was such a variety, it was hard to choose.

As for the Cootie Crew, the boys debuted the Crew as they ran around planting cooties. There seemed to be a problem though. After they ran out of cooties, they had nothing to do. You see, veryone that had a cootie planted on them was to busy chatting it up with everyone else. What fun is that? The debut of The Cootie Crew and they had nothing to do. I came to the gather with around 15 cooties and I came home with none. What a bummer. Oh well.

The important thing is that eveyone had a wonderful time, even though the weather outside was as wonderful. A big shout out to Karolyn of Dunhom5 and the support of her husband in this venture. They are wonderful people and hosted a gathering that no one will soon forget.
